Root Guard 5-Gallon Speed Baskets use knitted stainless-steel mesh to form flexible barriers around two new shrubs, vines, berries, or young trees. Each semi-formed basket is approximately 10 inches in diameter by 18.5 inches tall when opened, with an intended buried depth of about 10 inches. The mesh can expand or contract around the root ball, and the integrated centering ring helps position the plant during installation.

Prepare the basket and verify the root ball fits without compression before digging. Set the lower section into a hole broad enough to preserve the mesh shape, add soil for correct crown depth, and center the plant. Backfill evenly inside and outside the barrier, allowing soil to move through the knitted openings. The extended upper mesh may be secured near the planting with ground staples or plant ties as the directions specify; never tighten material against a growing trunk or stem. Inspect those fasteners periodically and adjust them before they restrict growth. Finish by irrigating thoroughly and monitoring for soil settlement, exposed entry gaps, or tunnels outside the protected zone.
